Remove photo location and metadata on iPhone
To remove the location from a photo on iPhone, open FileSnap, choose the photos, pick Remove Metadata, select Remove location or Remove all, and tap Remove Metadata. The picture is not re-encoded, so no quality is lost. The tool is free, works on JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF files, and runs on your device.
Free: Remove Metadata is a free tool, for batches of up to 10 files (100 with FileSnap Pro).

Remove location, camera and date
Share the cleaned copy, not the original. FileSnap writes a new file and leaves the original photo untouched in your library.
- Open FileSnap, tap Choose files and select your photos from Photos or Files.
- Pick Remove Metadata.
- Look at the Found in your files card. It shows how many of your files carry a location and how many carry camera details.
- Under Remove, choose Remove location (keeps the other details) or Remove all.
- Tap Remove Metadata, then Save to Photos, Save to Files or Share.
What works and what does not
| File type | Supported | Note |
|---|---|---|
| JPEG | Yes | Picture copied without re-encoding |
| HEIC | Yes | Picture copied without re-encoding |
| PNG | Yes | Picture copied without re-encoding |
| TIFF | Yes | Picture copied without re-encoding |
| WebP | Not in this tool | WebP files carry no metadata when FileSnap writes them |
Strip metadata while converting
The Convert Images tool has its own Metadata option (Keep, Remove location, Remove all). If you are changing the format anyway, set it there and do both in one pass. The Web preset already removes the location.
